Is griddle interchangeable by burner

Can one put hot pots and pans on top of the downdraft vent without the vent Melting? If the vent gets melted due to heat, is there any warrantee that will replace it?

How do you stop the cold air from coming in during the winter from the downdraft? I have cold air seeping through in the winter? Should I cover the vent from the outside?
We cover the downdraft vent with a folded clean dish towel. Generally with a nice design that matches well with the kitchen. This method has worked very well for us. Try it, I think you will be pleased.
